Real Estate Licensing Requirements

SALES LICENSE

Must be at least age 18
Must complete an approved 72-hour course
Must pass a State of WI exam
Must send all necessary paperwork and fees to the Dept. of Safety and Professional Services, State of WI

Must be at least age 18
Must have held a sales license for at least two years and must have actively worked for a broker in two of the last four years
Must have accumulated at least 40 points while working under a broker in two of the past four years. Points are earned as follows:
Each residential sale closing = 5 points
Each commercial sale closing = 10 points
Each 12 month lease signed = .5 points/month of lease
Must have completed an approved 72-hour course for brokers
Must pass a State of WI broker’s exam
Must send all necessary paperwork and fees to the Dept. of Safety and Professional Services, State of WI

All real estate licenses in WI expire Dec. 14 in the even numbered years
To renew your license all licensees must take 18 hours of approved continuing education classes
Proof of attendance must be submitted to the Department of Safety and Professional Services on their website
Complete all paperwork and pay the necessary fee for license renewal
Anyone getting a license prior to Oct. 1 of the even numbered year must complete continuing education to renew their license
